2. How long have you been making websites?
I took some coding classes as a child, but I actually started making my first site, this one, at the very start of 2026. It took me a month to build the site and transfer my posts.
3. And what got you into the hobby?
I wanted to have my stuff somewhere outside of Tumblr. When there were talks of it being shut down, personal websites were being pushed as a solution. It took me a while to get around to actually building one, though.
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?
Some people make websites just for themselves. I can get behind that, but I want people to get something out of mine. I like seeing creative works and analysis of media.
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?
I have a clear idea of the mechanics generally, but the design is by the seat of my pants.
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.
Order of Ecclesia is one of my favourite games, so I was first introduced to neocities by Wygol Village's site.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?
Seeing everything come together at the end. When the JS works, that's also very satisfying.
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?
I don't think about mobile-friendliness or cross-compability much early on, which has caused me much misery.
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?
I want to do something new for each one. However, that can be jarring for some people. I keep the barebones elements similar across pages.
10. How confident are you with CSS?
It's a mess in there. But if it works...
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?
I have to look it up each time.
12. What is your favourite HTML element?
<marquee>. Can't use it though, it's being discontinued.
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?
Code the skeleton for the HTML.
14. Do you know JavaScript?
I learn as much as I am forced to and not more than that.
15. How about PHP?
It'd be useful, but I never got around to learning it.
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?
It's vaguely Ottoman? All of my sites have at least one Ottoman inspired thing in it. Except for my liveblog archives. They were one of the first pages I made, so I didn't know that was the direction I was heading in at the time.
17. Are you more focused on content or design?
I won't make a new page without a good idea for the content, but I will never publish it if it doesn't have a design I'm satisfied with, either.
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?
Not enough people come by for me to care.
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?
They have their charm. I like windows themed ones a lot.
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?
No need to be accusatory. But no.
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?
Everyone is so creative with them. I love it.

THE best way to look for new websites.
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?
I would have tried to be a little bit more cohesive, I think... My index would be different, too. But my lack of knowledge when starting actually made the one I made unique in some ways, I prefer that.
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?
Some of the coolest people I know are posting their shit on personal websites. There are very talented people out there. I mostly envy the content.
25. What text editor do you use?
VS Code.
26. Why do you use that one?
I had VS Code on my computer already for game translation work, so I figured it would do.
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?
I don't think I'll have to worry about getting another host anytime soon.
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?
I don't even know the difference.
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?
⅕ of a GB maybe? Too lazy to check.
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?
On my computer. I have an earlier version of my site on an usb stick. I really gotta update that.
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?
Some very visual ones can get hard to navigate. Some of the best looking sites I know are simple but well thought out.

I can always get back to it when I feel like it, so I never felt the need to quit for good.

35. Do people in your real life know about your website?
My best friend likes it, I show her what I'm up to sometimes. My dad thinks I should put ads on it. I keep having to explain him that's not how it works.
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?
A few times a month at most. I mostly add the art I made and stuff. Most of my pages never get updated.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?
Once it's done, it's done. When I make a new page, it's the only thing I work on. I even forget to eat sometimes. By the time it's done, I don't want to look at its CSS file ever again.
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?
I don't post about my personal life much, so hobby-focused I guess.

No.

Not really. What I do and professional web design are not close to each other.
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?
For uni and research business, mostly. Also for boring adult things...

I'm not sure if I want to give up Tumblr. I have been on it much less than before though, for sure.
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?
I have Discord even though it's banned, although I use it very rarely nowadays.
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?
Whatever I like. Maybe I should make a page for it.
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?
I only have one website + I also post on social media.
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?
The more the better!
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?
I don't do it intentionally.

No, but I'm open to it.
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?
I don't have much in the way of complaints when people ask, just because I don't know how to articulate my problems.
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?
Some sites try to be so immersive that they become a pain to navigate. It's cool that this is like a living space and all, but I need some labels at least. Oh and also, at least try to make your text readable. There are tooks out there to check for contrast. Please and thank you.
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?
Please use WEBP. Pretty please with a cherry on top omg. You don't need to make the visual elements of your site PNGs. WEBP files can even be transparent. Artists especially are allergic to compressing anything.
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?
I used semantic HTML for my newer pages, so that the reader mode can work properly. The one on Firefox is very fickle though, so it's a 50/50 if it actually works.
53. Do you consider different browsers?
I check both Chromium and Firefox, only at the end.
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.
Firefox is not even good. I still use it. I use Chrome for specific situations.
55. And what OS are you on?
Lunix Mint.
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?
Windows made me suffer very much even if I have soft spot for Windows 7 which I grew up with. I should probably learn how to use Linux but I know I'll never actually sit down to learn the terminal. Because I never really needed to. Thanks to Mint.
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?
I think so? Index, Gallery and Archives were first to be made, so they have a few problems. Everything else is made with mobile in mind.
58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?
You gotta have it on full blast for it to piss me off. I don't mind it.
59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?
They are rarely maintained, in my experience.

For things I don't know about, it should be like a blurb. For things I do know snd like, I love to see analysis and interesting/useful info.

I want to give people reasons to visit many times...

Keeping my art here was the first reason why I made this site to begin with. I have drawn assets for most of my pages. The White Haired Girl has become the face of my site, in a way.

65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?
Not using relative units will trip you up bad when you try to make everything mobile-friendly.
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?
HTML/CSS are much easier than it looks. You don't even need JS like before. Try to get a good understanding of the "box-model". CSS is just boxes inside boxes inside boxes. If you get a decent understanding of "position:" property and flexbox as well, you'll be able to do basically anything.
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?
For one off things, it's more organizedto have them on the HTML file.
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?
I didn't even know this was a thing. You do you ig.
69. How about table-based layouts?
Can be good if you know what you're doing.
70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?
I've not seen one than one column work for mobile, but you can do anything you want for desktop. In cases where the layout covers the entire width, one column paragraphs can get too wide for my taste.
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?
CSS. I think it's alive and it hates me specifically.

I ran a blog with multiple people before. I can't imagine a reason to do that for a website, for now.

I want people to like my awesome and thought provoking opinions, but I also keep stuff from years ago on here. I cringe a little when I go read some of my older liveblogs.

Ok those are different questions. But, if I had the money, I would collect inks and fountain/brush pens.

I turned off screentime track becaus I was too ashamed. I've been replacing a lot of my online time with other things, though. With decent success!

I don't really have one. I prefer they be adults, I suppose.

We have mandatory coding classes. It didn't go any further than Scratch.

Doesn't seem like it's for me.

The Neocities one is pretty inaccurate I hear. I could keep one myself in the future.

I used to be on the Utena forum. I've been also known to visit Ekşi sözlük against my better judgement. No account though, thankfully.

Most of the stuff here is imported from Tumblr (or Storygraph). Outside of that, I do prefer writing directly in the file.

When I was on fandoms as a 14 year old, my peers would call me unapproachable. Make of that what you will.

Not deleted but some are only accessible if you know the url. I've also privated videos before.

Why would I do that exactly?

I think I may have revealed too much already. I'll never understand how people can put their actual pictures on their site, even though I respect it.

No, sorry.
99. And do you optimise the images on your website?
I kept my photos as jpg because I assume people may want to download them but I may just make them WEBP files too. I can keep my drawings a little higher quality because they are only called if the viewer wants it anyway.
